i've been away a while. sorry! things got really busy in life and work, etc.
i was thinking about how different things are for me now from a year ago. this time last year, i was in a bad way. everything is so so so much better now, and i am thankful to have come out the other side of all that went down. and i am more so thankful for my friends and family who helped me get through the last year. so thank you.
i hope everyone had a merry christmas. i had a wonderful one, except for the fact that both Bobby and i were sick. :( Bobby gave me the two loveliest gifts; he made me a ring out of a quarter and made a recording of himself performing my favorite Beatles song. the ring, believe it or not, he made by pounding the side of the quarter with a spoon to flatten it out and then drilling a hole in the middle and filing it down. it looks like a distressed silver ring- the only way you can tell that it is made from a quarter is by looking on the inside, where you can still see that it says the year, "quarter dollar," etc. the song is "In my Life," and he sang it, sang backup, played all of the instruments (guitar, bass, drums, rhodes, etc.), then recorded, mixed, and engineered it. it's beautiful, and so very sweet.
i got to see a lot of peeps! Erin, Jason, James, Maggie, Michael, Beth, and Tinkerbell. since we were sick, we didn't see the family until saturday (had Dad's side on christmas eve), and saw the grandrents and Lara. we spent christmas day with Bobby's family, which was very nice and relaxing. Bobby and i are recovering nicely, so that's all good. Luna got some yummy sheba kitty food, and some catnip. she's thoroughly pleased.
for next week/new year's- i only have to work two and a half days, which is awesome. i'm off new year's proper, of course, and i'm taking friday. Bobby is playing both on new year's eve and new year's eve eve. we may go out for dinner new year's eve first, but i'm not sure what time he's playing. the new year's eve eve show is a big one at the mercy. woohoo!!

visits!
so, i've had a ton of visitors here lately. Erin, Jason, Steve-O, and Maggie all came this week, and J came last week. i've got some pictures to post up, but they are at the home computer. i've been housesitting for the little Ranger fox this week, too. needless to say, the busyness continues. i'll post them when i get home, though.
Steve-O and i went to see the summertime outdoor exhibit at cheekwood, and if you have not gone, GO. it was big fun, and it has been every year since i've been going. the pictures will prove how much fun it is to run around and be a kid.
speaking of which, why didn't anyone tell us that growing up Sucks?! yeah, you get to do what you want when you want in a way that kids never do, but you've got to Pay for that shit. with time, energy, money, and stress. good thing i've got a fat cat to keep it real. although- i am pleased to report that at her yearly checkup and shots vet visit, it turns out that miss Luna has lost a pound! i know it doesn't sound terribly impressive, but that's like a person losing around 25 pounds. she's now on the heavy side of normal instead of the light side of heavy. woohoo!!
also- if you want to be in the club that Erin and i have started after Jason's excellent showing as a courteous car passenger, let me know. everything will make sense then....
pictures to follow.

we have a new champion.
this is not Luna Sneeze. this is another cat!

anyone who said Luna is the fattest white cat they ever saw can now consider themselves corrected.
thanks for the shot, Roo!
also, i realized that the post i did on my dad's birthday saved as a draft and didn't post. so i fixed it, it's on 02.07.08, and there is a Great picture with that one, so it's worth the jump.
no. we don't look alike at all.

I AM NO LONGER UNDER INVESTIGATION BY UNEMPLOYMENT!!
woo-hoo!!
the state of tn has come to its senses- i got a letter today which said they have conceded that i have not returned to work and i am off the hook!! thank you, god! i know that i didn't return to work and i was right all along, but They didn't and their opinion in the matter is the one that counts. phew!
i hope i can use this good news as momentum to keep up the good attitude and surf into this job i want. for the record, the second interview went well, but they told me it could be a few weeks until i heard back. however- it's only been a week and some change, and if it was a no on the third interview, i think they'd have told me that much by now. keep 'em crossed, even though i know they're getting weak. as Lisa Simpson says, "i'm aware of the time." thanks for sticking this out with me, y'all.
if anyone sees my dad, give him some love. he and Glenda had to put one of their cats, Millie, to sleep. she had cancer and was 14 years old, so it was time. RIP.
there's not that much else going on... just looking and listening, and going to the gym. i did finally finish the purse i've promised to make for Grandma Bette for about a year now. and she loved it! and valentine's day was lovely. a certain handsome someone brought me some very yummy chocolate covered strawberries. and Josh's show on wednesday went really, well. thanks to all 'a y'all who made it out. i'll keep you updated on shows as they emerge. everyone seemed to enjoy it, and Josh was glad. also, thanks to all who remembered the fat cat's birthday. she was very pleased. she had some canned food and went outside for a little stroll. and a belly rub. ah, the life of LunaSneeze.
more catball!!

staying UP
i am so tired, i am about to fall out. you'd be Amazed how tired doing damn near NOTHING all day can make you. with Josh out of town for a week, my unemployment in the air, and my car on the fritz (all settled now). but i've been up, as in awake, far too much in the last few days. saturday, i could not sleep. i think i finally fell out at about 3.30am- and then was awakened by a very vocal murder of crows between my house and the church at 8am. last night, i stayed up with Josh until 2 or 2.30, and then got a million phone calls this morning (by which i mean three) and the damn crows were back. i'm tired. i will require a nap.
i am still on this staying positive vibe, and it seems to be working at least a little. i got an unemployment check for week before last and was able to certify for last week- i assume that means everything has been cleared up, and i've not heard otherwise. Josh made it home safely, and my car is still fine.
i emailed the lady about that job, and she said they've not made a decision yet, and hope to do so soon. i choose to look at this in a good light- if i weren't a contender, she would have cut me loose. so everyone keep those fingers crossed for that one!
the girls and i continue to work on the show, and have gotten some great momentum. the characters are fanned out, and we're getting the writing done. i've been working on the myspace pages quite a bit, and i think they look right Fancy!
monday is a busy day for me, even without a job. most jobs are posted online on mondays, since most people get fired on fridays (i didn't- haha, i just realised that. that's funny!). i also post on craigslist and email all of the staffing agencies or people upon whom i've stumbled for a lead. then to the gym. that's a busy day for me, considering most days the Only place i go is the gym. i've been there almost every day for a while now- gotten to the point where i have to make myself take a day off. could be worse!
and check this out- i present to everyone the newest fancy fat cat move- cat comma!!

she's the best.

update- and some moderately good news, no less
i've managed to procure letters explaining that i have not been hired from all parties necessary, and had them sent to the TN dept of labor. hopefully, this will clear everything up and we can get back on track here. yay!
Sophia, my car, has been acting up for a few days- at first i thought it was because of the very cold weather last weekend and early this week (and the high here tomorrow is due to only be 28 degrees- yow!). i knew it had something to do with the transmission, because my car did not want to shift from third to fourth gear. it reared at around 3500 rpms. i am due for an oil change soon, so i decided to see if it got better when it warmed up to forty today. it didn't. i was worried about it, obviously, because transmission stuff can get really expensive (ask Josh about his old car, El Fuego, you would not believe). expensive transmission stuff + unemployed = no good. so, i've only been driving places i have to go (namely, the gym and the grocery). however, i had to do some laundry today and figured Mom's house was close enough to make and the risk of it was outweighed by my overall lack of clean underwear (i'm SURE you all wanted to hear that). i also realized i had to take back the movies Erin and i watched during her visit ('shallow grave,' an oldy but goldy, Danny Boyle's first film, and 'eastern promises,' the new one about russian mafia, it was Great, but rather violent fyi). so i dropped off the laundry and headed to the video store. when i pulled out, the car lurched- not good. down the road, at the same time, the engine light came on, and the phone rang. Mom was calling to tell me that there was a PUDDLE of some manner of car fluid in her driveway from where i stopped to take in the clothes. i stopped at a valvoline station immediately. and what do you know? the problem was something very small- the seal on the cap of the transmission fluid wasn't working properly, and the fluid was just low because the pressure of the engine had shot it out through the not sealed seal. they fixed it. and filled up my transmission fluid- for FREE! hallelujah! Sophia is back to herself!
i'm going in (in the proverbial sense, not literally, i've literally gone in twice) for that job i want TOMORROW- so good vibes, everyone, please!
POSITIVITY!!!

busy
it has been a very, very busy few days. i will try not to be too long winded.
last weekend was Nice. saw Roo, which was lovely and a long story, but totally wonderful, and i met the rest of her family, who were very warm. had dinner with my dad's side of the family christmas eve and saw Maggie and James who are in town (woo hoo!), and managed to catch quite a few oberlin peeps on the tele, as well as far away family members. i got a little ipod like i wanted, some $$, and a giant candy cane. that's right. it was very nice to see everyone, but a few of the usual suspects didn't make it.
and i ate a lot.
christmas day was a doozy. Grandma Bette called me at seven a.m. to tell me that she had to take Granddaddy to the emergency room at five. she then called me several more times to keep me updated until around 10, but then DIDN'T call to let me know anything else. calling worrywort gene! long story short, he had some complications from his kidney stone surgery last week, but the doctors said he'll be fine. but it seemed to have scared them somewhat, and i didn't see that side of the family for xmas at all. :( miss LunaSneeze got a catnip toy and a can of fancy feast (and yes, i tinged the side of her bowl with a fork) which she Devoured. we then drove to fairview and saw Josh's family, and Josh gave his friend Davy the funniest gift EVER. it was a game where you strap this plastic neon green brain to your head and nod or shake your head to answer questions it asks you. 'nuff said. i then drove to smyrna (yes, SMYRNA) to have dinner with Abbe and Bethie, which was so, so nice. we had a ton of fun and food. there were animal slippers involved. and sex and the city. oh, baby.
and i ate a lot.
we had a huge dinner with the Peakes last night. James gave me a planner for 08 handmade by anarchists. word. and Slice gave me d*%& in a box on dvd. Tinka went nuts, as usual. and i ate a lot.
yesterday i Finally made it back to the gym, which was of course closed on monday and tuesday. that Sucked. it's so hard to go back when you can't go. i do yoga at home, but i hate running outside, so my cardio was s.o.l.. today was much easier, but i'm still not used to the new pilates class. i also had to renew my registration for Sophia the kia today, but i tell you this- i made it from a dead sleep to the place and back in thirty minutes. no joke. i advise you all to do these things as close to 10 a.m. as possible, because that's when they have the least amount of traffic.
that's all i can recall at the moment. we have lots of new video games to play, and i have many new
books from friends to check out. woohoo!! here are some pictures....
